On the occasion of Guru Rinpoche Day – May 10th lunar calendar ( June 8th 2022): A TRIBUTE TO GURU (Tri ân Đạo sư)

Reverend Gurujee
Om Mani Padme Hum
I bow before your lotus foot
Today, the daily life of most people is filled with hectic activities and problems. One who imparts precise knowledge on appropriate spiritual practice for acquiring peace and purity of mind as well as how to perform in everyday life, it is none other than the Guru. In the life of a disciple, the Guru holds supreme importance; because a disciple cannot be elevated to enlightenment and happiness in this mundane existence without Guru. And so is our holy Guru.
Life is a dichotomy. Life is not simple, it is so complicated. Opposites make life, such as pleasure and pain, happiness and suffering, greed and generosity, passion and dispassion. Life is full of opposite values, and they pull you in different directions. When the complications in life become too much, the poor mind is unable to handle it, and it just breaks down. That is when it needs support. And for that, the Guru is available.
The importance of Guru
Guru is not the body, Guru is light, Guru is wisdom, and light and wisdom are essential in human life. When one’s life and wisdom are inseparable, then you call them Guru. When is it possible for the wisdom in us to remain intact; when we are not involved in a situation. We have noticed that we give great advice to others when we are not involved in a particular situation. But when we are in trouble, these ideas don’t ooze in the mind. This is because wisdom dawns when we are out of the mess.
If there is wisdom, how could there be a mess? A mess would not be there at all. So, the Guru is one who is out of the mess and who watches the chaos amidst the chaos.
We must have heard of something called circuit breakers. When the surcharge electricity comes, the circuit breaker stops the excess flow of electricity and saves the apparatus. We can say that the Guru is such a circuit breaker.
When there is something that the mind cannot handle, the Guru comes into us and saves the mind. So, whatever  we cannot handle, whatever appears too much for us, we give it away to the Guru, so that we remain sane and balanced. In the same way, when there is a compelling desire that bugs our mind, then also the Guru is there with unconditional love and support to tell us, ‘Don’t worry, let’s make it happen for us. On Guru Day we must feel grateful to our holy source of wisdom that keeps us balanced amidst the troubles of existence and allows us to walk with confidence and with a vision.
Our Holy Guru Thinle Nguyen Than is not only a Than Tri Maser and Director of Than Tri Institute of Psychology Research and Yoga Application, but also a great thinker and noblest of the Buddhist Philosopher, but he is essentially an inspired champion of Buddhism and one of the most vigorous missionaries on the global platform who is very compassionately working for the uplift all the sentient beings of the universe. If we have unwavering confidence in him, he is always with us to protect us from misfortunes and guide us properly so that we may not go astray. But we have to endeavor for our uplift.  For that mental purification is needed.
Our holy Guru is of the opinion that to avoid wrong in life and initiate any positive work Purity of mind is needed as the opening two verse of the Dhammapada says:-
                                        Mind is the fountainhead of
All the good and the bad actions
Mind is chief; mind-made are they.
It is the forerunner of (all evil) states.
If one speaks or acts with a wicked mind,
because of that, suffering follows one,
even as the wheel follows the hoof of the draught-ox. –I
                                        Mind is the fountainhead of
All the good and the bad actions
It is the forerunner of (all good) mental states.
Mind is chief; mind-made are they.
If one speaks or acts with a pure mind,
because of that, happiness follows one,
even as one’s shadow that never leaves.—2
This is the reason the nomenclature of his Buddhist yogic path is Pure Mind Buddhism. Explaining it our holy Guru says it “means the mind that is free from eight worldly concerns; fame-disrepute, praise-blame, gain-loss, and pleasure-pain. Those who have passed beyond these dichotomies they are said to have Pure Mind. To achieve it and enable all the sentient beings is the aim and end of our Guru and his Yoga Institute which is based on the Buddhist Dhamma. After 25 years of rigorous research, survey, practice, application, and acquirement of good results or holy Guru invented six methods of spiritual practice which is also called Six Wonderful Dhamma Gate which is based on the wisdom of the Buddhist saints especially Guru Rinpoche, Avalokiteshvara, and Dakini. Since in his article “Thanh Tri- The 2nd Mind Dharma: SAMYAGDRTI- PRABHA SAMADHI- Par 1: INTRODUCTION” all the six methods are mentioned properly o enumerating them will be mere repetition.
Today on the eve of the Guru Day we have great enthusiasm for our holy Guru. The more we learn to adore him with unwavering devotion, the more we shall successfully pay tribute to our holy Guru. It is a fact that our holy Guru and his life and works are indeed an inspiration for his disciples and followers to relive the glorious Buddhist principles, culture, and spirituality. This small and trivial article is my humble effort to focus on his life and achievement as well as his lofty ideals. It is also a humble tribute to an adorable personality on the GURU DAY.
Om Mani Padme Hum
May all the sentient beings are happy
May the merit of my pious practice be transferred to all sentient beings to attain the Buddhahood.
May all true Gurus live long for the benefit of all sentient beings.
May all sentient beings end their sufferings and their causes.
May COVID 19 be evaporating from the planate earth.
Long live our holy Guru
Om Mani Padme Hum
I bow my head before your lotus feet

You should not write an empty, lifeless spell in response to a comment. That’s shocking because the literature on Vajrayana Buddhism doesn’t show it like that! You are a student, not a fellow lama with me, but you answer equally like that! Take a look at your rude behavior and stop reading!

      • Nguyên Thành
        Nguyên Thành says:

Which teacher has taught you the Buddha’s Dharma before that you arbitrarily wrote like that?

        • Tantra Cittapasha says:

Thank you guru for reminding me about action of body/speech/mind.
          Happy Guru day everyone.
May you stay blessed and peaceful.
          Om mani padme hum. 👍

  3. Tantra Mitsharuma (Petra from Sweden) says:

    Dear Holy Guru
My deepest thanks to our Guru on Guru day. To show us a path that maybe many of us didn’t think possible. For myself that have been battling with the demons anxiety, panic attacks and depression, Guru has shown me a different path with the help of Mani mantra and daily prayers such as may all sentient beings drink the Buddha’s amrita (drinking my tea)
May Guru have good health and be blessed and peaceful
May all sentient beings feel the love of Buddha’s nature

    Om Mani Padme Hum

    • Tantra Cittapasha says:

Hi Petra. You should try to pour a fresh untouched one to nourish all sentient life over all of time, in all of space…
      Om mani padme hum 🙏

  4. Tantra Mishataru. says:

    Dear Holy Guru,
I am so lucky to have met you due to past life karma,Truly you are circuit breaker, you open the minds of your disciples if their is any blockages,I believe what I am going through in my life like anxieties will end with you being on my side with right spiritual practice. In this life we have to be vigilant when it come to our thoughts and views, it may seem nothing but they do carry weight when it comes to inventing karma deeds. So how we respond and think about situations matters a lot.

May you and all true gurus live longer for the sake of all sentient beings.
May all sentients beings realize the right spiritual practice.
May all sentients beings attain a high state of enlightenment after realizing the right spiritual practice.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

    • Tantra Cittapasha says:

Thank you all Guru for blessing me with the strength to not remain in samsara, affected by ignorance, hate and suffering only to cause further harm to others.
Many merits to all Guru over all time and space and in ten directions.
May all sentient beings of all time and space take superior refuge in all of the ten directions.
      Om mani padme hum.

    Dear Tantra Sutradaka!

Your article moved me intensely. I know you are a professor_ doctor of Buddhism, author of 16 books, has taught many foreign students about Buddhism, including Vietnamese monks. ..Due to the good fortune of many previous lives, in this life you accepted me as a Guru. That proves your humility but reality is “depending on the Buddhadharma, not on famous people”. Starting to seek the Dharma, you follow the Buddha’s teachings, which helps me to source Bodhi energy. Today on the occasion of the coming Guru’s day you have shown such respect, I appreciate you even more. I just want to affirm that you bring bodhichitta energy to me personally. I will be your inspiration! In short, I do not expect to be praised, I am not afraid of criticism because I know how I am, who I am; I just do my best and what I can for sentient beings. Comments and comments belong to each person. I cherish you and wish you success in the world, long health and always be an example of Dharma and religion for many other students to follow. If something is empty then it is also empty of 8 worldly concerns. When we are thinking of 8 worldly concerns, it is a construct of mind that we project onto the empty, physical world.
May you be blessed, may your family be blessed.

Everything we think we can measure it’s on a scale, still a construct of the mind.
We should understand 8 worldly concerns but not be entirely bound by them?

A ‘word’ in praise and gratitude of Thinley Nguyen Thanh, My precious Teacher.

    Tantra Tanshami – 6/7/2020

    Om Mani Padme Hum ཨོཾ་མ་ཎི་པདྨེ་ཧཱུྃ་ཧྲཱིཿ
    My Dear Guru,

I have been childlike and in awe of reality and all it encompasses.
Sometimes it has been fear and terror, realizing there is no escape, and so much going on.
Mostly happiness as able, to realize such a great oppurtunity and the joy and experiences it brings.
This being Said, I really do not have a lot to say, I am more of an observer than anything else it seems. I will briefly make a point to communicate my appreciation for you, and your teachings and methods.
I have been your student, whether directly or indirectly, for several years now, I believe.
In this time, although engaging in my own practices as well, I would say I have definitely benefitted from first reading and commenting on articles, and then later, the availability and attendance of classes.
I do notice that I have grown out of very dark behaviors learning and expanding about what to take up and what to abandon, and I am grateful for this. Many nights I came to your image in my room, hanging over my shrine. I would talk to you like a best friend and Teacher right there with me, and you would manifest to me and teach me how to get out of bad situations, and teach me about karma. Also your image would reflect your kindness. It seemed as if you smiled and celebrated my joy with me, and were indifferent or fierce looking at times of trouble!
Having your image and knowing I had a Great Teacher I could call on was very beneficial and even protective for me, and for this I am grateful. I know you wanted me to have your image, and it has helped. I had an experience of you teaching me to do Vajrasattva mantra to purify, and I listened to you. That morning following was so sublime and beautiful. I felt I must finally be free and I cried tears of joy for what seemed a long time. I do not know if I am one of your only students to Truly see you for the indispensable guide and protector you are, Tireless and kind. I thank you. I truly pray the others might experience the same, the truth of your being and service to The Holy Dharma!

    – Sincerely, Tantra Tanshami

    Dear Holy Guru,
On this wonderful occasion of Guru Rinpoche Day, I am happy to have the opportunity to show my gratitude for the years you have accepted me with patience and understanding. Your lessons once were so easy for me to understand but as health and memory changed, I have found many moments that I need to read and reread articles and they are new to me each time when Im in that type of mind. This article is beautifully written, and I couldn’t imagine being able to show my appreciation any better than is written above. It’s a beautiful way to show appreciation for all you have done and still do for your learners. Your lessons are understandable and easily applied to daily life which for me is vital in me remembering. Mani Mantra has become second nature for me. It brings instant peace. I admit many days I still struggle with many prayers, but I seem to be able to remember closing the door on lower realms and opening the door to enlightenment. I pray these often. I could not know any of these things without your lessons. I could not have any chance at raising to the next level toward enlightenment without you, your lessons, your articles, your support, and your dedication to Buddhism and all that you have gained and shared from it. I appreciate every word I’ve read and heard from you and your students. When your students write articles it is wonderful to see how much they have learned as well. I still have much to learn and am far from enlightenment, but I will not give up just as you have not given up on your students. Thank you again. Om Mani Padme Hum
May you live long and well for the sake of all sentient beings and may all sentient beings not only be free from suffering but find their way to a true guru such as yourself and begin and reach the path to enlightenment.

    Dear holy and honorable Guru,
    I am thankful!
I am thankful for your attribution of teachings.
I am thankful for your dedication.
I am thankful for the wisdom you promulgate.
I am thankful for what you give with out asking for much in return
You ask for devotion and that is fair.
If I had the world to give, I would give to Guru.
I would give to the institute all that I could.
I am a man of limited means.
    Society sees me as broken.
    You see me as burdened.
You are wise and venerable for you seek to lighten my burden.
Not for selfish gain, but because it is a righteous act.
Guru is righteous in his movements and cares deeply, I have seen him give freely teachings others shroud and peddle poorly.
Not only does Guru share these so willingly, he does so in a manner clear for a beginner if only I pay my attention when he speaks his mind.
I am indebted to Guru in many ways, and I offer in return my gratefulness and resolve to comment better and wiser.
Guru deserves thoughtful responses to his thoughtful remarks.
That is all my teacher has asked.
And that I will give here.

Blessings for Guru and all beings.
May they be endowed with enlightenment.
May illness and burden be relieved from those who honor themselves by honoring others.
I am thankful for all I have learned.

  20. Tantra Sutradaka says:

    Reverend Gurujee
    Om Mani Padme Hum
I bow before your lotus foot
I do not know where to start with my words of gratitude in response to your blessings saturated with kind and compassionate emotions that touched my heart and soul at a time, pushing me back to February 2018 when we met for the first time at Tantra House. I felt loving-kindness for me in your eyes and pull in your personality though a thin line of pride, without prejudice, was there about my academic achievement and my placement as a teacher. But even after that, I was impressed by your nobility, humility, sobriety, spirituality, Buddhist learning, and ability to be friendly even to those who are much inferior to you in age, learning and clime, and never allowed the other to feel isolated in your company. Your gregarious nature enchanted me a lot and grappled me in an indefinable relation with my holy Guru. Though I could not understand the mystery of our unknown relationship, I was thankful to my Dhamma friend, Rose Tran, from the core of my heart, who got me connected with you. Time elapsed; I was destined to meet you till March 2020 as per the divine design as if we, somehow or other, were related to each other in terms of father and son or Guru and disciple relation.

As being provided by Rose Tran your wonderful sharing of Buddhist wisdom in a well-articulated form with added parables and rooted in mundane life, very regularly, created in me a curiosity to read them mindfully that generated an urge to comment on them. It is a pleasant surprise for me that most of the comments were posted in the related comment box and some of them were published as articles. This helped me in multiple ways. It was purging my defilements, increasing my knowledge, teaching me the art and skill for better writings, pouring in me the mildness of nature, respect for all the sentient beings and above all slowly but silently I was coming closer to you, mentally, spiritually and became tagged with you in a relationship of Master and disciple. This I realized at my daughter’s house at Noida when in a religious ceremony I was asked to sit by my daughter’s family and the clergy asked everyone sitting there to close their eyes with folded hands and remember one’s god or Guru. I was wondered stuck to find that our holy Guru, Reverend Nguyen Thanh appeared before my eyes and I offered my prayers to him. This was a radical spiritual-religious transformation in me and a paradigm shift in my belief. And since then the bond of Guru and disciple will continue for several births till I attain emancipation.
Reverend Gurujee I shall ever remain grateful for your unconditional and innocent ambrosia of benediction on me. I extend my thankfulness to my Dhamma friend, Rose Than for her sublime sport in my Bodhi Path of Pure Mind Buddhism as well as for being instrumental in connecting a poor disciple to the Guru of the time.

I bow my head before your lotus feet

Thank you Tantrastra Daka (Avinsah Mar Srivastava) for the words expressed in the article.
Everything is mind. Mind is everything.
No object, situation or decision is inherently good or inherently bad. The physical world is separate to our minds and is empty of self. The terms good and bad are dependent to our situation usually, and formed by mind.
Therefore mind is the forerunner or fountainhead of any good or any bad deeds.
Is this what you mean ?
May all living beings be happy, free from misery, having equanimity, free of hatred and attachment.
May the merits of our practice be transferred to all sentient life.
      Om mani padme hum.
I bow my head before your lotus feet.

Thank you holy Guru for the article.
I am touched to have been shown that you remember us all.
My life has changed since Chi Violet first reached out to me and started teaching the buddhadharma via your methods.
Sometimes I am unsure what to write but you have shown that through development of a pure mind we are better equipped to deal with our daily lives and reduce our karmic imprint, in this life and for both myself and others for countless future lives.
    However I must learn discipline.
    Om mani peme hung.

    Dear Guru,

I have read this article already.

I am delighted with Tantrastra Daka feelings about the important role of a Guru, a guide, teaching us to go in the right direction on the right path and to enlightenment, which we ourselves need to have effort. The Guru is always by our side when needed, helping us not to stray from the righteous Dharma, showing the way out of difficulties and deadlocks in life, thereby achieving happiness in our own mind and worldly success, social success, happiness in this life, ecstasy in the next life.

I pray for Guru’s health and long life for the benefits of sentient beings.

Pray for the Covid-19 pandemic to be eradicated soon.

May all sentient beings achieve the happiness of Buddha nature.

    Om Mani Padme Hum.

The best way to express Guru devotion is to follow the Buddha’s teachings that were interpreted through the articles on chanhtuduy.com. In doing so, reading and reflecting diligently is necessary; I believe you can do that!
