Concern about Vietnamese language: SEE OTHERS, SEE MYSELF! ( Nỗi niềm tiếng Việt: TRÔNG NGƯỜI RỒI NGẪM ĐẾN TA)

Dear Guru,
I don’t know how many times I have enjoyed your article. It is as beautiful and smooth as a poem, a synchrony of emotions of soft, gentle, profound which creates a timeless “love melody” on rainy days, raising a passion in me that I just want the time to stand still to enjoy forever.
A special notice is that this love melody is not as oppressive and melancholic as being found in worldly love but a holy feeling, a boundless devotion to the enlightened beings, and gratitude towards inconceivable virtues and merits of the Avalokiteshvara, who, with supreme dharmas, has cleared away every last trace of samsara and brought back the happiness of Buddha-nature for the sentient beings in this burning Saha world. Each of those emotions is neatly placed in the notes of the melody, silently takes up the entirety of the mind and heart of the listener. It’s when that melody ends that the rain stops, leaving a feeling of being consoled, refreshment and mildness.

Amid my joyful and delighted feeling, something seems to push me to look at every comment of dharma brothers. Magnificently, your Dharma melodies in the rain have flown across the border to Asia, Europe, United States and Australia, linking with the rhythm of the heart of those practitioners who are looking forward to the Tantra House, where lives the benevolent Guru, and locates an exquisite Hoang Mai Coc, delicate Tinh Khanh Phong, sacred Lien Hoa Dai and a whole holy space that is imbued with blessings of Guru, Yidam and Dakini. Some hearts seemed to be buried forever but wonderfully opened up from the signal of Song Nguyen Tantra House, raising a delight in everyone such as a devotional sharing of Mat Thuan Lien from Ngoc Vung Island… . How wonderful to see your melody give us a chance to cease all worries in life to enjoy carefree moments, listen to the rhythm of the falling rain, and have an internal dialogue with our neglected true mind.

The dust of ignorance piled up through many lives and the present hard life seem to seal off the door to our true mind. Without moments of relaxing our mind with your gentle Dharma melodies, it’s hard for our arid land of mind to absorb the Dharma essence and nurture the sown seed of enlightenment. Once again, I feel inestimably lucky to have a chance to meet and follow your step in this life, imbuing myself in fresh Dharma melodies through familiar worldly phenomena, which become magnificent in the flair observation and unimpeded wisdom of a Master. Your great pedagogic method has always been inspiring us, helping us access righteously and effectively the Buddha Dharma and right view – an area which seems to be so “academic” and highly beyond the reach of low-faculty practitioners like me.
The more I look back my blessings: live in the same country, speaking the same language, sharing the same culture with Guru, the more I appreciate and admire the spirit of seeking and learning Dharma of foreign vajra brothers. Even how excellent the translated version is, it is hard to lively demonstrate the artistic style of the author as well as fully interpret the deep layers of meaning. Particularly, your articles are not simply beautiful words but contain profound implifications, which the readers can draw their own lessons depending on their spiritual level. Hence, with the meaning reaching beyond the expression of words, how can it be completely expressed in other languages?

I can prove the “suffering” of language difference by my own experience as the door of chanhtuduy.com for local readers was closed recently and I had to read your articles in English. Though I needed not “struggle” hard to come up with English words to understand, I still felt an invisible barrier to my complete understanding. While I tried to catch the meaning of the next paragraph, the idea of the previous one became faded and interrupted by the language barrier, which made the ability to grasp the main idea of the article more challenging. Therefore, I had to read again and again, for many times, to understand the article, though sometimes it’s hard to avoid a vague comprehension of complicated phrases. “An afflicted person is the one who doesn’t know he is happy”. Truly! I silently blamed myself for having not realized my blessings and happiness for living in the same country and speaking the same language with Guru, for I can read and comprehend your Dharma sermon more easily. I am so sympathetic with foreign dharma brothers for the “attrition” of Dharma meaning from the interpretation activity as well as difficulties in reading comprehension as not all are fluent in English. Nonetheless, they are showing endeavor every day by employing every means to access the light of right view from chanhtuduy.com, without fear of language shortcoming or limit. I can see their regular and sincere comments on the site.

That is for written sermons. For audio-sermons, it’s a bigger disadvantage for foreign dharma brothers because they cannot deeply feel your humor and different levels of expression of a master with unimpeded eloquence ability. But with genuine devotion and Dharma treasuring, dharma brother Tantra Upatissa from India has overcome his chronic insomnia just by regularly listening to the lectures of Guru [though in Vietnamese]. This result comes from the method named “Liberation upon hearing”, which is totally not impeded by geographic distance or language difference. Not only Tantra Upatissa but many other examples can be found in the United States, Canada, Philippines, Nigeria, India, Australia… . Looking at their practice endeavor, I feel ashamed for my slothfulness and laziness. I understand that if I continue to belittle my current blessing and lucks, being neglectful in reading and giving comments on chanhtuduy.com, which is the way to accumulate merit and wisdom, my path to the City of Liberation surely will be longer and tougher.

Dear Guru,
Coming back to the melody “Watching rain falling down…”, I thank you for presenting us beautiful dharma rhythms and warming us up in cold rainy days. I’ve asked myself for many kalpas I have watched the rain falling down in this samsara. It turns out that such drops of rain have been silently accompanying me through many lives and harshness. And now, thanks to your “matchmaking”, I’ve recognized the value of pure dharma rain, which is day by day watering our cold and dry mind. May I treasure more my rare opportunity of meeting a Guru in the same nation so that I can walk side by side with the Dharma rain on this final path. May I not miss the chance to eradicate all traces of samsara to return to the land of eternal happiness.

I sincerely pray for the health and longevity of Guru and your consort for the benefits of all sentient beings.
May the Covid-19 pandemic end soon, and all sufferings of the sentient beings be relieved.
Om Mani Pad Me Hum.
Disciple Mat Anh Duong

While in other places, many teachers only tell their followers the rules, regulations and the precepts that the learners must or mustn’t do. These teachers only tell what had been written in the sutras. The learners do not know if their teachers can follow such regulations or precepts. These teachers never share their own spiritual experiences for their follower to follow. On the contrary, Guru has been sharing his own spiritual experiences when Guru get the holy fruits. And more compassionately, Guru prepares the nice place and brings his sweet fruits of enlightenment to all learners to enjoy. We can see clearly that all articles on chanhtuduy.com have been added with many beautiful pictures with wonderful words. The readers or learners not only read the enlightening words but also enjoy the amazing photos.

Dear vaijra brother Mat Anh Duong,
I am delighted to read your article.
I am escpecially impressed by the sentence which you has used to express your feeling: “An afflicted person is the one who doesn’t know he happy”. I find it is true for me. Till everything seems to be getting harder, the Dharma door seems to be going to close, I start to realize the blessings of living in the same country, speaking the same language with Guru that I am so lucky to have. Therefore, the more I feel ashamed of myself, the more I admire foreign vajra brothers for their effort in seeking and learning Dharma.
I understand although the Dharma rain drops still fall day by day thanks to Guru’s transportation channel, without Guru devotion, my mind would be forever like the arid field. The same as you, I hope that I will not miss the chance to eradicate all traces of samsara to return to the land of eternal happiness.
May Guru have good health and live long for the sake of all sentient beings.
Thank you so much for your meaningful sharing. May all your righteous wishes soon come true.
May all sentient beings attain the happiness of Buddha’s nature.
May Covid-19 pandemic soon be over.
